The city of Buenos Aires is positioning itself as a destination for Sustainable Tourism per excellence. There are many reasons that now bear to know, to travel and live in an eco-friendly way.
It has a wide range of public spaces and green areas, among which include parks, nature reserves and squares; diversity of flora and fauna; its routes outdoors; proposals that add to the availability of accommodation environmentally responsible, healthy food and sustainable mobility.
In its bid to become a green city, Buenos Aires advances in various programs aimed at strengthening this commitment:
Waste separation
The city has developed a network of Green Points located in different neighborhoods that can be visited during a sightseeing tour in Buenos Aires and in this green areas you can bring recyclable waste and become aware of the importance of this subject.
Healthy Stations
Healthy Stations are a bet the City Government to promote healthy living, in which basic controls as a measure of weight and height, and blood glucose control is performed.
Sustainable Architecture
Architecture is one of the attractions of the city. In this sense, and with criteria of sustainable construction, are facing the construction sites. This involves applying different strategies to minimize the environmental impact of construction in all phases of the life cycle of a building.
With this concept, the City Government opened a new headquarters in Patricios Park where work office of the Head of Government and other government offices, which was developed with techniques and standards of environmental care, according to the LEED certification, and maximizes natural lighting and ventilation to reduce energy consumption and its impact on the environment.
Healthy food and responsible consumption
The city has a wide gastronomic offer and responsible consumption. You can enjoy delicious and healthy meals from walking around the neighborhood of Palermo, to organic food markets and fairs crowded the streets of San Telmo.
In the neighborhoods of Palermo and Villa Crespo is possible to enjoy warm restaurants whose axis is healthy cuisine. In turn, if you are looking for a nice lunch outdoors, are ideal neighborhood of Puerto Madero and the Costanera, or picnic under the shade of the trees in any city parks.
In the neighborhood of San Telmo, every Sunday, you can enjoy healthy food at the Fair Responsible Consumption. Other options include The Buenos Aires Market, the largest fair of healthy food, and the Vuelta Green Fair, a day where the reuse of materials is the axis.
Travelling sustainably
The city offers ways to travel greener, to walk its streets, alleys and avenues faster, safe and orderly, with the least environmental impact manner.
The Metrobus is a good choice. Also the use of bicycles through the system Ecobicis that the city offers. The area of downtown, for example, is now intended for circulation walk, ideal for each of its corners.
Sustainable Accommodation
The secretariat of Tourism and Environmental Protection Agency developed a distinctive town called Ecoselloque certify the sustainable management of tourist accommodation.
It has three levels that recognize environmental improvements based on five pillars: the responsible waste management, energy efficiency, responsible consumption, environmental management and water management. Hotels and hostels have recognized the logo on its entrance door. At the site of Tourism of the city are published accommodation forming part of ecoseal.
