The Legend of the Cerro de los Siete Colores
They say that before , when the people of Purmamarca was formed , the hills around the village had no colors. They were like all the hills that are known in the world . That seemed boring to children and village boys reason why older told they would have to do something in order to have the cutest and less monotonous place . But parents do not know and left the hill as it was. They thought they would accustom children to the sadness of the hill as colorless as the parents had done.
But the kids did not want to get used to. So they met together and decided they would solve that problem.
Together they found the colors and every night they left the bed and went up the hill . Seven nights following repeated that and although they warned their parents, who were out to color the hill, did not believe them and thought they were just playing .
The children painted both to achieve the ideal frame and the hill seemed so perfect.
After seven nights the biggest awoke and there was not a child in his bed. They were all missing. They decided to go out and look . But the whole town was empty of children and began to worry. When no longer knew where to look , they remembered what the children had said. They were all together near the village church and looked up the hill . At that moment they jumped the heart of joy. They could not believe what they were seeing. In seven colors hill and down was painted the same all the village children , mottled paint , running , laughing and full of joy were visible.
Since that day is celebrated every year on the day of the seven colors in Purmamarca . And from that day on the hill which is guarding the village has seven colors.
